Services
Safe Drinking Water
Although Nepal is naturally bestowed with ample water resources only 82 percent of population have access to safe and clean drinking water.
Health and Hygiene Promotion
Health and hygiene promotion is a holistic activity that includes the supply of water and help in building latrines as well as raising awareness of what hygiene is and what hygienic behavior can do for the community.
Sanitation
According to Nepal ninth five year plan only 25 % of total population have access to sanitation.
NEWAH approach is to firstly provide the necessary knowledge to build functioning latrine and then to provide a range of sanitation options at a subsidized rate which the rural people can afford and maintain themselves.
Gender & Poverty
In Nepal, demand for water supply services by the 'community' are too often demanded by the so-called higher caste and better off men of the community, with little or no prior consultation with women and poorer men, who are often from socially excluded Dalit and ethnic groups.
Operation & Maintenance
NEWAH works in the partnership with local NGOs, and semi- governmental develop- mental organization; Small Farmer Development Project (SFDP), one of the "Agriculture Development Bank" sector and Production Credit for Rural Women (PCRW), one of the "Women Development Branch" sector.
